Please be aware that by joining the Club and therefore HockeyWA, you are expected to have read and understood the rules of the association, and understand all your responsibilities to the Club and to HockeyWA.
There are many things to read and understand, but we draw your attention to a few in particular:
- Code of Conduct: Please see the memo from HockeyWA on code of conduct.
- Umpiring fines: It is expected that as a team, you are aware of your umpiring duties for the year and plan in advance to ensure these are covered. All of your fixtures for the season are published on the sporting pulse website. Umpiring bye’s (where you need to provide umpires) are listed in your season fixture by HockeyWA. Furthermore, HockeyWA also publishes an umpiring roster which should be checked on a weekly basis.
- Failure to carry out your duties will result in fines from HockeyWA. Please refer to the affiliation rules for full details on this. For example, if you are required to provide 8 umpires (for 4 games) and you miss all of them, you will cop a fine for $775 and you will lose 1.5 premiership points. (This is all in the rules).
- The fine will then be passed on to the team, and as a team you will have to have a meeting and work out how you will pay it back. This is the shared responsibility of the team, and the club takes no responsibility for you missing your duties, and you will be expected to pay the fines incurred by HockeyWA (i.e. as a team you will be required to pay the $775).
- Other fines: The full fine schedule is listed in the affiliation rules. Please ensure you read and understand it, as there a whole load of items you can get fined for including non-entry of results into HockeyNet, failure to SMS your results in within 60 minutes of the end of a fixture, wearing the incorrect uniform, failure to advise of a forfeit, playing ineligible players, incorrect details on a match report etc... There are many more, please read the rules.
